Bhuvan Anantham did us proud when he completed his Arangetram in style at the Esplanade Recital Studio. Kudos to Guru Neewin Hershall as this milestone would not have been possible without his consistent efforts in training Bhuvan.

SHASHTI Oct 2017

Back in the 90’s Santha Bhaskar initiated the Om Muruga series, featuring the Six Abodes of Lord Muruga. Her student, vice-principal Ambujah Thiru, choreographed the Thiruchendur and Thirupparankundram episodes. A reprise of these two episodes was staged as Shashti during the auspicious six-day Kanda Shashti festival. It was presented by 32 of Ambujah Thiru’s students.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND 8 & 9 October 2016

As part of Octoburst! (the Children’s Day weekend celebrations at Esplanade), Nrityalaya presented the popular tale with a bharatanatyam twist. Under the guidance of Santha Bhaskar and Ambujah Thiru, young choreographers Hemalatha Sathasivam, Shruthilaya Ramachandran and Priyadarshini Nagarajah conceptualised, created and coached their young wards to produce this well-received show.

Part of the biannual dance exams, Bala Nrityam & Ilayar Nadanam 2016 saw many buds blossoming into beautiful flowers. Under the guidance of Santha Bhaskar, gurus Ambujah Thiru, Neewin Hershall, Pallavi Sharma, Dhana Bharathi, Gayathri Subramaniam, Hemalatha Sathasivam, Usha Anbalagan, Malini Bhaskar, Shruthilaya Ramachandran and Priyadarshini Nagarajah worked really hard guiding and coaching their students.

Kudos to the students for presenting what they were taught confidently. Appreciation also goes out to the parents who constantly support and motivate their children!

As a flute senior student of Ghanavenothan Retnam, the awesome performance that Kummar Mogan gave as part of his flute diploma examination was, needless to say, expected. What a treat! Kudos to Guru and disciple!

As part of their flute diploma examinations, twins Hari and Vishnu Veluri gave an outstanding katcheri yesterday. Kudos to them and to their guru Ghanavenothan Retnam!
